During my service as County Executive, Rensselaer County has been recognized as a statewide leader in reducing property taxes, in improving services and county facilities, paving 300 miles of roads and never backing down when the safety and security of our residents is threatened.
We are just getting started and working even harder to attract opportunity and improve quality of life. Looking forward to waging an energetic and successful campaign for County Executive and continuing to work for the people of our great and growing county.

Protecting Taxpayers - Lowering Taxes
Seven consecutive property tax reductions, the county has reduced the county property tax rate by over 40 percent since McLaughlin took office in 2017. Read More...

The Reimagine Rensselaer County project also included opening three new senor centers since 2023. The Troy, East Greenbush-Rensselaer, and Hoosick senior centers are newly renovated, state-of-the-art facilities designed to expand programming and delivering great services for seniors in Rensselaer County.
